Click through rate is the number of times your published ads were clicked in comparison to the number of times these ads were shown. Here the layout of your ad slot plays an important role. • Take your own time to decide the colour and layout of the ad slot. You know your web page where you will show these ads and that means you will be able to decide what would look best.
• Never click on your own ads. Google tracks it and if you are caught you will be banned.
• Target high competition keywords as they will get you more money per click.
• Take care that you are marketing it right. Never forget that what you make is also dependent on the amount of traffic you get. You must maintain good content so that you can make people remember you.
• When you have taken care of all the above, do make a note to keep good track of your account. You must know which of your ad slots on the page are getting maximum clicks and which are dying out. This will help you to decide if you need to make modifications. If your click-through is very low you might want to try different layouts and check which layout works the best with your site.
