Google is probably one of the most well-known names on the Internet as the leading and largest search engine available today. Google has more visitors than any other search engine and is known for efficient and useful results. And as broadband becomes more prevalent, more and more people are learning the joys of working with Google.

 

Google Incorporated is an American corporation that strode onto the Internet with their search engine, Google.com, in 1996. The brains behind Google.com are Larry Page and Sergey Brin who originally started the search engine as a research project. The engine would analyse the relationships between websites to better determine websites that are worth ranking high.

 

The majority of Google’s revenue is generated through advertising as any broadband user may have noticed. Starting in 2000, Google chose to sell advertising that is associated with relevant keywords. Google Adwords offers clients the opportunity to display their advertisements in Google’s search results when certain related keywords are searched for. The advertiser can choose between a cost-per-click or cost-per-view option to pay for this advertising. While the success of this advertising has yet to be fully determined a lot of sites have already taken advantage of it.

 

The Google search engine also allows users to search for images and videos sifting through websites to find only those with the files that they are looking for. Gmail is another service offered by Google to users all over the world. Their web-based email service offers some of the best spam protection and privacy to be found anywhere on the Internet and allows access to Gtalk, Google’s own instant messaging service for registered Gmail users.

 

Even with broadband Internet, finding the right things on the Internet can be time consuming. Google has made the whole act of searching just a little bit easier with their innovative search engine that has taken the world by storm. It might not be right every time but it certainly saves people a lot of time when searching for the information they need.
