Blogging Hosts Make Your Voice Heard

Blogging has become a commom sight to most people that surf the Internet. A lot of searches on the Internet will, inevitably, list a blog as part of the search results. With a little effort and blog hosting anyone can have their own blog. But while most people are aware of blogs and have a vague idea of what they are, not many people are actually aware of just what a blog is.

The word 'blog' comes from a contraction of the words 'web' and 'log'. At its simplest a blog is simply a log, journal or diary of a person that is on the web. For many blog writers that is all that they are: a place where they can write down their thoughts and feelings and share them with the world. The problem is that since blog hosting has become so easy to attain anyone can start their own blog -even those people who should rather leave writing to the professionals.

Blogs can cover any number of topics. Blogs about travel, blogs about games, blogs about books, blogs about science...the list goes on and on. Anything that a person has interest in and can write about can have a blog about it. Some blogs are so famous that some people have had their blogs published in books or make a tidy sum of money from the amount of visitors that come to the blog every day thanks to advertising on their blog. All a person needs to start blogging is a blog host.

A blog host is a service that hosts your blog. Your blog has to be on a server somewhere that is connected to the Internet so that other Internet users can see it. Blog hosting comes in two main forms: free and paid. Free blog hosting is available all over the Internet. The well-known sites include WordPress and BlogSpot. These services allow anyone to set up a blog in a few minutes. They include templates to make the design easier and simple content management systems to update and make changes to your blog as you see fit.

The problem with free blog hosting is that you often have to deal with advertising on your blog (that you are not being paid for) and a lack of any real customer support, should the server go down or if there is a problem of some sort. Free blog hosting is fine if you just want a simple blog without anything special. For the real bloggers, however, paid blog hosting is the way to go.

With paid blog hosting you pay a hosting company a monthly fee to keep your blog on their servers. Most blog hosting services offer a number of applications that make blogging easier, removing the trouble of having to know how to code a website. The advantages are that you can customise your blog to a much greater extent than you can with a free blog hosting site and that your blog has its own domain name and stands all alone on the Internet. This is ideal if you want to try to make money from your blog or if your blog has grown to such an extent that free blog hosting just cannot keep up with your needs.

Blogging is easy and, with some blog hosting services, free as well. Just bear in mind that maintaining a blog is a huge commitment of time. Many blogs are started only to meander into nothingness as their creators forget about them. But for all those failed blogs there are many that have made their creators famous.

Let your voice be heard and start blogging!
